What Am I?
What Am I? The question that everyone asks to himself or herself at least a few times in their lifetime. Some may say we are a combination of our mind, body and soul, others may say I am my physical body and not really think much further into their own existence. According to Rene Descartes mind and body are two different entities, and ultimately the soul or spirit is the ultimate entity that controlled the self. Decarates argues that the body extended part of the self that was unthinking and divisable. Eve Browning cole believed that the mind and body worked together as an embodied mind. A theory where the body and mind worked together as an interconnected network.
The most basic answer to the question of Who Am I?, would be that we are all our physical body. The problem with this argument is that it does not account for the fact that our thoughts and mind (brain) control or body and without our brain the sensations and movements of your physical body would be uncapable.
In retrospect after reading Browing Cole and Decartes theories on self, I believe that I am by mind and body work together to communicate with my physical surroundings to let me understand my ultimate goal of existence. Without my body I would be unable to process all the information that surrounds me. Without my eyes I could not know between beauty and destruction, without my ears I could not know the difference in harmony and noise. Without my skin I could not know the difference between a diamond and a normal
