Why I Am Getting My MBA
Why I am getting my MBA. I was unsure of the true value a graduate program could offer. As I researched this idea of going back to school and receive my MBA. I found that many benefits could come of receiving my degree. Not only do I believe a MBA will provide me with career advancement opportunities, but an MBA will provide me with security. With an advance degree come a higher salary which will be a part of my goal and also the confidence I will need to prosper. My MBA will be a starting point for a new career.
It wasn’t easy to decide whether or not to return to graduate school. I had many things that had to taken into consideration. For example, my family, the cost, and the time it would take to finish my master’s. I would be taking away from family time by going to class and working on papers. I also found out that graduate school is expensive. The cost of graduate school has skyrocketed, rising 60% in the past decade according to the Council of Graduate School (S. Banjo 2008). I will have to be dedicated to finish so not to waste the money I am spending to finish graduate school. The time is also a valuable thing I had to consider before enrolling in graduate school. I would be spending a great deal of time writing papers and studying for test. Time that could be spent with my family would be on trying to finish a course. Those are some of the things I have to think about when debating on whether or not to attend graduate school. In the end I think it will all be worth it. According to one salary guide an MBA is worth about 10-30,000 a year over a bachelor’s degree (R. Hansen Ph.D). I think the decision to go to graduate school will turn out to be the best thing my family.
