An American View

The American spirit of today has changed greatly from many years ago. I believe that the American spirit and character has diminished over the years. Today, we as Americans no longer have the ambition nor patience that we once had many years ago. I believe that we lost our sense of pride, ambition and patience over the years for many reasons. Some of the main causes that I believe us as Americans lost our patience, pride and ambition is because of technology and the media.
One of the main reasons is the technology. Many years ago when automobiles and cell phones didn’t exist it required us to walk to our destination or write letters in order to communicate. Approximately in 1998 cell phones became more popular and common amongst American people it changed our generation and form of communication completely. It allowed us to call or even text message each other to make plans, instead of writing letters. We can simply get into a car and drive to our destination. It played a major role in Americans becoming lazy. Instead of walking down the street to our friends’ house we now get into the car and drive there.
Another main cause that Americans have lost their ambition and patience is due to the media. The media is a very powerful thing and the way they influence the American culture is incredible. The media does a wonderful job at influencing the American society, it promotes all the new technology and new vehicles that help enable us to stay lazy and lose our ambition while spending more money. It also keeps advertising new but new products that come out and are believed to be the best “must haves”. I believe without the media and...
