Driving in today’s world poses many dangers for drivers of all ages, but these risks are especially prominent for teenage drivers. These drivers do not have the experience that older drivers have obviously, but this combined with the usual arrogant know-it-all attitude of most teenagers multiplies the risks of driving.
Most teenage drivers gain a sense of invincibility when they begin driving, assuming that they don’t need to follow the set of rules set by their respective states because they can drive better than the average citizen, so therefore they’ve no need to abide by the rules because they are more capable of driving safely in their own way. This assumption is evidently wrong for many reasons, but mostly due to the lack of experience which limits a driver’s knowledge of different road conditions, safe driving techniques, and state requirements. One of the most dangerous aspects of driving can be driving too fast, where the vehicle is less stable and prone to accidents. Studies have shown that of the car crashes that have occurred in the United States, 38 percent of teens were speeding. This urge to speed is common with many teenagers, but especially guys. Guys want to go fast whether they’re in a Ford Pinto or a Ferrari. They want to get from one light to the next as quickly as possible and go as fast as they can, thinking that they are all Formula One grade veterans and have complete control of their vehicle 100% of the way. Most teenagers presume that the posted speed limits are outdated and unnecessarily low and therefore see no reason to follow them. Presumptions like this however are contrary to state officials’ opinions, who are responsible for the speed limits. These limits are posted so that everyone who drives the roads can drive safely, without resulting in a traffic collision.
