Global Inequities

• Blackwater USA workers involved in shooting may be prosecuted in Iraq.
• Blackwater USA has their license pulled by the Iraq government.

Why this is an example of Global Inequities:

The article I did was Iraq suspends U.S security firms license. This is global inequality because the U.S is establishing American presence in Iraq. The United States say they don’t practice blatant colonialism by establishing settlements, but do exercise their power by having American companies and military presence. It can all be traced back to the power that the U.S uses over other less powerful countries.

Point 1: Blackwater USA workers involved in shooting may be prosecuted in Iraq.

This article is about how an American security firm was involved in fatal shootings during an attack on the U.S state motorcade in Baghdad. The article says that U.S troops cant be prosecuted in Iraq because of the U.N resolution that authorizes the presence of military. But that is not the case for any private security firms. The security workers from Blackwater USA could be prosecuted in Iraq and their names were turned into Iraq officials. 8 people were killed and 13 were wounded. I think that the Blackwater security firm tried using their country as a backbone and didn’t follow regulations and took matters in their own hands. Because they were a U.S firm I think that they thought they had the authority to do what they wanted. The shootings are still under investigation, so there isn’t any word on the prosecution of these American workers by Iraq government. I believe that they should be prosecuted over there if there is proof to show that these shootings could have been avoided and that these security workers didn’t shoot civilians on purpose.

Point 2: Blackwater USA has their license pulled by the Iraq government.

Blackwater USA has their license pulled by the Iraq government. This security firm is now not allowed to be working anywhere in...
