I.Did you know that the daily death toll of abortions matches 9/11 x 30 or that it matches Katrina x 62 every day? According to the New York Times, less than 1% of U.S. abortions are performed because of rape or incest.
a.Many people don’t know that 52% of women obtaining abortion are at the age of 25 or younger and 64% of all abortions are preformed on never married women. In 2000, 1.3 million abortions took place in the U.S. alone
b.People who consider themselves as pro-life insist that personhood begins when conception occurs. Therefore, they believe that abortion is immoral killing of an innocent human being.
c.They believe that an abortion will cause the unborn child to suffer, and that it isn’t fair to allow people an abortion when couples that can’t biologically conceive are waiting to adopt.
d.According to Dr. Ranalli A 20-week-old unborn child can actually feel pain more intensely than adults.
II. Most people think just because the bible doestn say anything thats its okay. That being said, we must begin by acknowledging that the Bible doesn't say anything about abortion directly.
a.Why the silence of the Bible on abortion? The answer is simple. Abortion was so unthinkable to an Israelite woman that there was no need to even mention it in the criminal code.
b.Why was abortion an unthinkable act? Children were viewed as a gift or heritage from the Lord. Second, the Scriptures state and the Jews concurred that God opens and closes the womb and is sovereign over conception.
III. Also people tend to think they aren't kllig a child. Its only been convencied for 2 weeks, its not a baby yet, well they are wrong.
a.Three weeks after fertilization the eyes and spinal cord are visible and the developing brain has two lobes. Four weeks after fertilization the heart is beating and a circulatory system is in place.
