Specific Purpose: To Persuade my audience that abortion should be illegal
Central Idea: Abortion is an act of murder that is unjustified and not only kills the unborn, but also harms the mother physically and mentally
I. Introduction
A. This morning an abortionist dilated a mother and used a loop shaped knife to cut her baby into pieces and then scraped the uterine wall. The baby's body parts were then removed from the womb and pieced back together to be sure that nothing was left inside.
(Before I continue on with my speech, I want to make it clear to everyone that I was advised to exclude rape, medical conditions, molestation cases, etc.)
B. In 1973 the notable case of Roe v. Wade ruled that abortions were legal. Since then, more than 56 million American babies have been murdered by abortion. That's more than a million murdered babies a year because of abortions! In fact the number of American babies killed each year due to abortion, is equivalent to the number of U.S. military deaths that have occurred in all wars in which the United States has participated in!
C. 8 months ago my partner and I found out that we were having a child. It was unplanned and we were scared, which caused us to panic knowing that we were both not ready mentally nor financially. At the time my daughter was three weeks old and developing, my partner and I discussed what options we had, abortion being one of them. After doing research we immediately ruled it out and agreed on and came to the realization that we must do what is right and that is to go through with it and raise our child.
D. Abortion is not only an unjustified act. It's murder, and can also harm the mother physically and mentally.
