I was born in Wayne Michigan, but as a child I grow up in a place I call home Toledo Ohio. I have been in toledo since the age of six months, and city is all I know. The population is around 313,619. As I grew up I was sometimes around African American and also white people. As a child I remember attending mostly white schools with few African Americans in each class. When I was growing up I notice that people children didn’t look like me. I was really like skinned with long hair and slighted eyes. I always looked at children and question myself why they lighter and darker are then me. I remember asking my mother what was my race because I looked different. I remember her telling that my race is African American but I was mixed with Chinese, which I look like both side of my race. But other people and children did not know in till you asked me. Since my mother told me about my race I realized that I come from two different cultures. I then had to learn about both sides of my race.
Growing up, the community of Toledo on no account treated me different due to the way I look. However In my community I have noticed that the communities dotreat African American a little differ then other races. Many African Americans are still treated as second class citizen to this very day. My other race which is Chinese they stay to themselves. Thy main own stores which some are nail salons.
