“The pictures in the texts are horrendous to school students, but the texts are even much worse,” said Ahmad Fhim Hakim, a Pakistan-based nonprofit. As a student, it sound weird that the textbook contains violent images and images. We seldom gain inappropriate information from textbooks. But why Afghan textbooks fulfilled with violence and horrors? The article we have read offers us an intact and explicit reason of existence of these horrible textbook.
There is no doubt that children receive information and gain education mostly through textbooks. As a result, using the textbooks which filled with political Islamic teachings would be the best way to transmit the value and norms from Islam. The textbooks were provided by United States, spent millions of dollars. Due to the demands from Afghan military leader of primers which contain anti-Soviet passages, textbooks taught children to recognize that jihad means to fight militarily to prevent themselves from foreign invaders.
Furthermore, tracking back to the emergence of textbooks, We learn that these textbooks were composited at the University of Nebraska-Omaha. Mostly, the composition works are funded by AID. These textbooks were published in the dominant Afghan languages, circulated in various versions, remaining available in schools and shops from past to now, even used as a core curriculums’ textbooks during Taliban era. In addition, the reason that U.S gave a hand to supplying the textbooks is that these books happened to meet U.S interests to evoke discontentments during the time of Soviet Occupation. However, United States try to fix the situation of textbook contents because there is a rise of people realized Islamic militancy and the situation of existence of anti-American as a result of the publish of Islamic militancy.
Consequently, with consciousness of Islamic militancy and anti-American, American soldiers suffered a lot in Afghanistan even sacrifice. The original...
