Research question: What is the cause of American childhood obesity, and how can fellow Americans prevent it?
Thesis statement: Obesity in American children is due to a lack of activities, poor eating habits, and environmental influence.
I. Parents are a huge influence.
A. Children often imitate their parent’s eating habits.
B. Children will only eat what and as often as their parent allow them.
II. Children are bound by the technology of today.
A. Children get less exercise watching TV, playing video games and on the computer.
B. There are video games (The Wii) that encourages children to do physical activities such as running, hoping and twisting to prevent laziness.
III. Schools offer programs for young children who may not have after school
Activities, but that also brings funding issues.
A. Principals should be encouraged to create more after school fitness programs.
B. How children thinks and feels about physical activities has a huge effect on his or her participation.
IV. There is life threatening results from a child being obese.
A. Increased risk of impairment or death, due to type 2 diabetes.
B. Hart problems are known to accrue later on in the child’s life.

Creating a Healthy America
In the American society weight is everything. There’s more pressure to be the right size to compete with the images of the models and movie stars. Weight is every where, “how to loose it, how to keep it off “or for some” how to gain it.” Although they are all focused on being at a healthy weight, Americans fail to prevent obesity in their children. Obese children will become obese adults and obese adults will become sick, and suffer from life threatening diseases. For Example, Hart Disease, type 2 diabetes, and stroke are common in obese adults. They must focus on the children because they are the future.
