Gambling
Good morning. Wow, a hot day ,isn't it? I've just taken part in a demonstration. Do you see the banner? Well , kids and gamblers , I'd like to thank you for coming. During the next five minutes, as a representative of the group which boycotts gambling, I would like to talk about the detriment of it, which is vitally important to all of us.
First,let me ask you some questions. Do you like gambling? Are you addicted into it? Is the reason you consider it exciting? When people are addicted to gambling, it is difficult to abandon, even for the social elites. Gambling exerts negative influences on our life by diversity of ways; however, we cannot really realize the significance of this issue.
Once people contract gambling disease, most of them become crazy about it. It is difficult to abandon, even for the social elites. There is a real example, a well-known football athlete Michael Chopra. He lost $3.5 million gambling since he started it when he was 17 on the bus and revealed his financial problems become so serious his family were threatened by loan sharks. "The main reason I went to Sunderland was to pay my debts off. When you go to the Premier League you earn more money." But it is not the excuse for his fault. A man must have a sense of responsibility to protect his family away from any hurt, but Michael didn't ; his family almost lost all of money because of his gambling. As a gambler, isn't it a tragic example? As a man, is he worthy of being a husband, or a father? Is he?
Nevertheless , children as young as 12 have risk of developing gambling problems, which may lead them go astray, especially for international students who are under 12 to 17. "A great proportion of Australia growing up today are likely to have experience of gambling before they are 18." The report mentioned. Teenagers are more prone to gambling than adults .
