Since the beginning, man has had the urge to pay for sexual services whether it was legal, illegal, frowned upon, or immoral. Prostitution is known as one of the world’s oldest professions and it has been dated back all the way to the beginning of time. In today’s society, it has become a hot topic of whether or not prostitution should be considered an actual profession. The idea of a person selling themselves as a sexual service can be overwhelming to many people but some people turn to prostitution as a fall back plan or as a main career, legally or illegally. There are advantages to the legalization of prostitution but only if done correctly in the right manner like if it was legalized or decriminalized, this would allow states to require health exams and provide funding through taxation of the service. The disadvantages of legalizing prostitution outweigh the advantages. Prostitution should never be legalized and some may argue that it will always be around no matter what but that calls for better sting forces and policing. Reasons to why prostitution cannot be legalizing due to the giant health risk it proposes, prostitution can also be a safety concern to the women involved, and with the legalization it may also increase the possibilities of child prostitution.
The legalization of prostitution brings many factors of health risks. This is one of the main reasons discussed in many arguments about the legalization. Some may say that if prostitution was legalized, this would allow states to require health exams therefore; the risk of sexually transmitted diseases would be low. Studies show that actually all of the above will be multiplied greatly. The enormous health risk prostitution promotes is not to be tampered with. Not only is there a sexually transmitted disease risk but there are other health problems that come along with prostitution.
