Inside the Career of a Manager in the Music Industry
There are many occupations one can take in the music industry. One can choose to be involved with the hands on making of the music as a producer or song writer, or maybe even be concerned with finding talented people in the world that have not been noticed yet as a marketing executive. By viewing social media, one will notice who the popular stars of the day are. I have always thought it would be an amazing experience to be a star; however, if one did not get a chance to face that dream, it would still be neat to be right there in the action with the celebrity. One way to do this is to become the manager of someone of fame in the music industry.
The main goal of a manager is the world of music is do whatever it takes to please of not only the musician, but also the record company. The manager must also get together special events to publicize the musician and the work of the musician. It is the manager’s job to be the overseer of all projects regarding the musician by keeping everything organized and meeting deadlines by looking at the overall picture. The manager needs to be up-to-date with the current music and have an understanding of the music marketplace, what is selling. Another main focus of the manager is to make the star successful by picking effective music producers and song writers. Like said above, a manager needs to be organized. It is his/her job to keep up with everything for the musician, whether it be concerts, meetings, record deadlines, gigs, etc. The manager also needs to be able to do well under pressure. Managers of any kind will always have a lot of pressure on them because they are over all operations. The manager must also be determined and have a desire for music. How can a musician be pumped up about something if their manager is not?
