Harassment has occured more frequently in today workplace by number of ways and affect differet people by different ways. Any kinds of harassment in the workplace is a form of employment discrimination and it goes against the laws. There are many kinds of harrassment such as sexual, sex oriented, disability and racial harassment, etc. Racial harassment which will be diccussed in this essay is the one of the biggest issues that happened in the past and still occur until today.
Racial harassment in workplace is defined as a person or a group of people, who displays repeated discriminatory behavior to bother, threaten and treat a particular employee unfairly due to their race, color, place of birth, ethnic, citizenship, etc (ohrc.on.ca). Racial harassment most occurs in organization that has diverse group of people. It is the issue that managers must pay attention to, because it can cause many negative effects, not only affect the harassment recipients but also affect the organization as well.
As globalization, there is a great increase in racial and ethnic diversity in the organization. People from many different places, different countries with different backgrounds, skills and experiences come and work together which make the management of heterogeous group of workers harder than ever. Eventhough, diversity at workplace creates a great innovation and creativity for the growth of business; however, it also creates discontents among each employees.
