Starbucks mission is “inspire and nurture the human spirit – one person, one cup and one neighborhood at a time” (Starbucks, 2014, para. 1). Its coffee is about the quality; they are “passionate about ethically sourcing the finest coffee beans, roasting them with great care, and improving the lives of people who grow them” (Our Coffee). Starbucks began with one store in Seattle in 1971 and grew rapidly over the years; currently there are nearly 17,000 stores worldwide. Starbucks owns most stores, (53%) and the remaining are franchised leases. Each location prides itself with excellent customer service, and product expertise. Nowadays, Starbucks is a household name.

Starbucks values the role of ethics and compliance; conducting business ethically is vital to Starbucks success.
