This is my student Survival Guide that will aid me through my time here at Axia College. The guide will contain an action plan that will help me to be successful in my education. I have learned a lot already in my first nine weeks here at Axia College. I have learned how to be an active student and achieve academic honesty. I have also learned to manage time wisely and achieve goals. This guide will be a reference to me throughout my time here.
Using Axia’s Educational Resources
For any resources I need such as research and looking up articles, I will visit the Axia Library. The two databases I will use are the Gale PowerSearch and the EBSCOhost . I have had success with these two databases so I will continue to use them. I will always use peer-reviewed articles because they are better sources. They are articles that already been reviewed for accuracy. I need to remember to use citations and references when I use these databases in my papers. I will refer to the Writing Style Guide when submitting papers to make sure I am using the proper format. I will always use spell and grammar checks with every paper that I write. This will help to make sure that all my spelling is correct and that I am using proper grammar. I will also use the Center for Writing Excellence for the Write Point help. These will double my accuracy in grammar. It will be like a second pair of eyes reviewing my papers before submission.
Upholding Academic Honesty
I will make sure that when I am using or referring to any articles or websites that I use citations and references to make sure that I do not plagiarize in any form what so ever. I will submit any papers to the plagiarism checker to make sure. I understand the policies and consequences of plagiarism that Axia upholds in their academic honesty.
