The Power and Wealth of the North American Colonies
For decades, North America has been dominated by the European colonizers who came to the continent searching for more power and superiority to acquire over the rest of the world. Portugal for instance was the first country to start exploring new territories to acquire more power, which triggered many other European nations to compete in enlarging their empires. The Portuguese explorers conquered part of Asia such as China and Japan to build more trading ties between Asia and Portugal. However, their conquered land did not last for too long as they failed to maintain their empire. That led for losing their conquered Asian land to another European strong opponent, the Dutch who just arrived to Asia to compete with the newly created Portuguese empire. The Portuguese with many other European nations then turned their heads to the American unexplored land to look for more resources to bring to Europe.
