Time Management Revisited
As I look back in week one, the three time management strategies that I intend to incorporate into my life are Goal Setting, Managing Interruptions, Prioritizing and now that we are in last week of the this course I can say that I am still a “work in progress”.
Goal Setting- I can say that I have set long and short term goals in place for my life but most importantly I know what I want to achieve and know where I need to concentrate my efforts because time is so precious.
Managing Interruptions- I am getting a handle on managing my interruptions both at home and at work but it has been very difficult. I am learning that I have to decide what is worth my time or being interruption and if I allow the interruption, then offer a specific time to meet later. Learning not to answer the phone sometimes and letting your voicemail handle the interruption for me. Managing interruptions well means you get more real work done.
Prioritizing- This area is very important for me to master because I am dealing with a lot juggling between family, work and school. I still need to find a way to distribute time where it is needed the most and still get all of the bases covered.
The survival tips that I would offer a friend considering online education is pace yourself, don’t be afraid to ask questions, utilize your course calendar and course checklist.
