Quarterback Duel: Tom Brady or Peyton Manning?
It’s the fourth quarter, 1:35 left on the clock and you’re on your own 20 yard line. Who do your want behind center, Tom Brady or Peyton Manning? This question has been asked for the past decade and is consistently a great debate whenever you mention the greatest quarterbacks of all time. Brady and Manning are both tremendous quarterbacks in pressure situations so at anytime the Patriots or Colts are down, they are most certainly not out.
Tom Brady was drafted in the “6th round 199th” overall in the 2000 NFL draft. In the “2000 season Brady sat behind Drew Bledsoe, John Friesz and Michael Bishop as a 4th string quarterback.” However, before training camp broke in “2001 Brady was elevated to second string.” Almost like a Cinderella story, for Brady that is, Drew Bledsoe went down against the Jets and Brady assumed the role of The New England Patriots quarterback and hasn’t looked back since.
In Tom Brady’s first season, after Drew Bledsoe’s injury, he led the Patriots to the “2001 Super Bowl and also won in the years “2003, and 2004.” In the 2001 Super Bowl the Patriots went up against arguably the best team in the NFL, the Rams. The Patriots were 14 point underdogs in the game and were counted out as soon as the match was set. But the Patriots won a close one with Tom Brady having to get his team down the field for and Adam Vinatari field goal with put the Patriots over the Rams “20 to 17”. In the 2003 Super Bowl the Patriots had to play the Carolina Panthers, and again Brady had to drive his team down the field for a last second field goal to pull out a victory the final was “32 to 29”. In the 2004 Super Bowl the Patriots played the Eagles and in similar fashion the Patriots won a 3rd Super Bowl title by a last minute Brady drive down the field and a Adam Vinateri field goal, the final was “24 to 21.” Tom Brady has the best record of any quarterback in the...
