War in Iraq
The war in Iraq was one of the worst things the American people have undertaken in a long time. They had no reason to invade Iraq except for the idea that the Iraqis had nuclear weapons of mass destruction. At least that was their stated motivation for going into Iraq.
First of all, there was no real hard evidence that the Iraqis had nuclear weapons. The Americans went into Iraq expecting to find an ton of bombs and other products of mass destruction and when they did not find any, they turned their military attention towards removing Saddam Hussein as a further cover-up for their mistake. Some people are convinced that the only reason the Americans went into Iraq in the first place was to take over the oilfields, and they just used the nuclear weapons scare to make the invasion more politically correct in the eyes of the rest of the world. Now that they have captured Saddom Hussein, and they have yet to find any no nuclear weapons of mass destruction, why are they remaining in Iraq? Are the Americans trying to keep the city under control from a peacekeeping standpoint, are they trying to rebuild the third world country, or are they merely stealing millions of gallons of oil from the people of Iraq.
Financially, it continues to be very expensive to maintain all the troops while replacing equipment and supplies. They are spending literally millions of dollars to go into this war torn country and destroy what left the people of Iraq have. It has been said by many that this money would be better spent back at home on such fundamental needs as healthcare and education.
Finally, there are many American men dying every day. Some of them are as young as eighteen. They are being killed by land mines, drive-by shootings in the streets and suicide bombers. Also, suicide rates among the American troops are very high because these men want to go home to see their families and they hate what they are doing so much that they would rather die then...
