Where is your place of perfect beauty or loveliness? I have seen mine on the gulf shores of Panama City Beach, Florida. I have been to other coast lines before, but nothing compares to the beauty of the Emerald Coast. What has been labeled the “Redneck Riviera” is simply heaven to me.
It was a beautiful day to spend the day at the beach, a warm 85 degrees and the cool gulf breeze blowing. I grabbed my beach chair and cooler, and headed for the sands. I have heard of the famous white sand beaches that line the Emerald Coast, but nothing could prepare me for the beauty that my eyes captured. The mounds of grain looked so soft, almost as if I were looking at pillows of snow glistening under the bright sun. As I stepped onto the beautiful oasis the warmth engulfed my feet like a warm pair of socks right out of a hot dryer. I reached down to hold this fine white ash, and watched the powder slip through my fingers leaving only a slight residue on my hands. I walked toward the water to set up my chair. As I neared the edge I noticed the color of the sand changed to slight silver, somewhat like the color of a worn out nickel. The wet sand felt different, cool on my feet, and slightly rough. I stood for a moment feeling the waves of water recede over the shore line. As each wave retreated I could feel the sand slipping through my toes like granules of sugar. I stood for a moment admiring the beauty that was before me, and only one word came to mind…breathtaking.
The emerald green water seemed to change to different shades of blue as the dancing liquid flowed toward the horizon, making it hard to decipher where the water ended and the skyline began. The ripples of color sparkled like diamonds under the sunshine, and as the waves started to break they looked like white snow caps on a mountain.
