Dear Management: Setting Performance Management Goals The first thing to consider in developing a performance management plan is determining the direction that the organization is heading. The next step is to define the goal for InterClean’s sales team. Once this direction has been defined,a clear cut goal can be established. Our overall goal is to maximize the sales of our industrial cleaning products, increase customer loyalty, and increase the sales of cleaning service in the healthcare sector. In order to achieve our overall goal we have to develop personal and team goals to arrive at the desired outcome. These goals are necessary to have in order for the associates to be challenged towards achieving higher levels of performance. The following are the steps to take to set the performance management goals. Define the overall direction for the organization. Align the sales team’s goals with the organizational goals. Make specific goals for the sales team as a whole. Identify challenging achievable goals for each associate within the team. Monitoring Achievement of Established Goals The next step in the process of performance management is monitoring the specific definable metrics which make up the overall achievement of the established goals. Monitoring achievement is the only way to have an effective performance management plan. This is done by studying daily definable data that each associate produces. Then we will need to compare the individual accomplishments with the singular and team goals. Basically by monitoring the achievement of the established goals we are checking the pulse of individual and team to determine if we are aligned properly.
