Rough Draft Research Paper
“Jets, Spark of the Wildfire”
Starting from the 1900’s no one had ever thought that there would be another way of air travel but that which the Wright brothers had figured out. However as humans we always have curiosity of things, sometimes it leads to breakthroughs which we can cherish and enjoy and sometimes it leads to death and suffering. In this case it leads to a new age which would change the way we traveled to and from countries. The “Jet Age” would be the name given to this new era. In this paper you will learn when and how the new aircraft were created and why they were created as well.
With the turbojet and turbofan engines not being enough the ramjet was soon put into use. The ramjet first consists of an inlet structure with a spike coming out the middle of it. As the spike came into the structure its diameter would increase greatly which with all the air passing though at the same time would create enormous pressure without the use of a compressor. After passing the inlet and compression chamber it would be released into a lower pressure combustion chamber to be mixed with fuel which would immediately become exhaust as there is no turbine or other chamber for it to pass though. The immediate advantage would be the fact that there are no moving parts so maintenance would be cut greatly on it. Adding to this there would be no fear of foreign parts such as a bird damaging the engine as is more common in the turbofan and turbojet (though not as much as turbofan).
