Special Occasion for Me

An occasion that is special to me is my great-great grandmother Corinne funeral. It is very special to me because we celebrated her home coming she died at a 113. Corinne was the oldest person in Washington, DC. After the funeral the family began to reminisce. My uncle JB which is one of her sons and also he took care of her. Started taking out pictures of my great-great grandmother, great-great father and family. So the family began talking about our family roots, and shared that I had Irish and Indian in my family. They also told me that Corinne and my great-great grandfather was care takers of the Fredrick Douglas house. I also learned that my family had help build foundations in Southeast, and Northeast. When I heard this I was shock but I felt good inside. I was proud to find out my heritage, and were I was coming from. My other uncles and aunts show me pictures of Anacostia how it use to be when it was just farm land. Then I had a flash back of when Corinne was alive and she told stories about how it was when she was younger. Also she told me how the world was and how black people had overcome issue in her day, even though some of those issues are going on today. And how her mother showed her how to cook from starch and sew. Corinne also told me how my family became divided over color, meaning that light separated form the dark. Which means are family was broken in to two sides. Then my flashbacks went away, I began to listen to what everyone had to say about Corinne which was great. Then I had tears come down my face, and though how bless I was. That a lot of people are not lucky to meet there great-great grand mother or know there heritage. After a while people in the family began to leave one by one. But before the family left there was a reporter from the Washington Post paper. That came to the house and started asking questions about Corinne and the family. I thought that was a little a strange but I thought nothing of it. A week later I saw...
