Describe the type of business purpose and ownership of two contrasting business.

Introduction

The two organisations I have chosen are Asda and Oxfam, the reason why I have chosen these two companies is because I have to describe the type of business, purpose and ownership of these two businesses and I will relate and find the difference between the two businesses, I will talk about what scale these businesses operate, what sectors they stand on.

Asda is a huge company through the whole of UK. Asda is a British supermarket chain which retails food, clothing, toys and general merchandise. It also has a mobile telephone network, Asda Mobile. It has its head office in the Asda House in Leeds, West Yorkshire. Asda became a subsidiary of the American retail giant Wal-Mart, the world’s largest retailer. This means that Asda as an organisation is an international worldwide company which is based in many other countries within Europe. Asda as a company always try to keep them self noticed to the whole world by putting on discounts, the cheapest petrol station, top ups for mobile or for calling cards or providing customer service if they need any help or if they have any problems that they like to share about the store itself, plus they have their own online system to let the customers feel comfortable to order stuff online while they are at home. Asda compares itself with Tesco’s as it is Asda’s rival, to make it an even better organisation for the customers and to make a customer happy with their purchase they have to make the customer a regular customer and that you give good customer service.
