In this paper I will be discussing interviews with Lisa Durbin a human resources representative and how she helps with mergers and acquisitions in the healthcare facility. I will describe what actions she took to support the organization in the strategic plan. The last things I will be looking at what were the out comes of her actions.
I interviewed Lisa Durbin a human resources representative for Mayo Clinic about her role in the merger and acquisition of St. Luke’s Hospital one of her responsibilities is to make sure that she helps bring the most qualified personnel to the new facility. In the upcoming move within the next three years, candidates are carefully screened for any St. Luke’s Hospital jobs this allowing for only the best candidates to be hired with the possibility of being moved to the new facility when it opens. Along with this one of her duties is to make sure that all the federal and state laws are followed.
This presents a unique challenge in it’s self when someone is hired and they believe that their job will transfer them to the new hospital when it opens, and only the best personnel will be moved over to fill the reduced amount of jobs available because of the dissolution of some services. Lisa works with the managers and supervisors helping them to develop guidelines along with new evaluations to help in the process of transferring the existing personnel to the new facility. Another of her responsibilities is to make sure that if the personnel are not transferred to the new facility that St. Vincent’s is made aware of those personnel, this allows St. Vincent’s to extend an offer to them for a position. St. Vincent’s will also be extending job offers to the key personnel in the hospital thus allowing for a smooth transition making sure that patient care is not compromised.
Lisa has helped with the planning of the move to the new facility by submitting guidelines for the move of personnel and planning site visits to St. Luke’s...
