Kudler Fine Foods (KFF), an upscale food and wine grocer located in the San Diego area and comprised of three locations, is facing internal and external changes. KFF management is analyzing market and opportunities to offer new products and services to its consumer. KFF is in the process of developing new procedures and process to monitor competitors to update their strategy.
Technology and Business opportunities
KFF is facing competition not only by small food joints but big food supermarket retailers as well. “Businesses are generally perceived to have two major assets: quality service and high-quality and/or unique food products. Recent discussion has focused on ways to better leverage these assets using information technology to expand market reach or increase supply-chain efficiency (Ernst, Stoel, Hooker, and Skolmutch, 2006).”
Internet has almost single handedly revolutionized almost all aspects of current businesses. Internet has provided KFF the opportunity of reaching more, both direct and/or indirect, customers. Now through a well designed website Kudler can reach more customers without opening new stores.
1. Kudler can also provide an online catalogue of their services and products.
2. Kudler can enable e-commerce on their website and allow customers to place orders online with an option of delivery.
3. Through website KFF can monitor customer behavior, buying patterns, fast moving items and slow moving items.
4. Kudler can also enable their website to be PDA compliant in order to cater to some of their fast moving customers e.g. Wedding/Party planners, working parents planning birthday parties and/or weddings.
KFF to provide interconnectivity between its branches and have a central database to store data captured from its various applications.
