Copland explains different ways of listening to music in this reading. Many people use music as an escape from life and reality and they lose themselves in the music I know that’s what I do when I listen to music. Every composer of music has there own special talent and the way that they make music. None of them are the same. The way that they write music gives them a way to express their feelings and emotions. A lot of times people don’t want to share how they feel openly with someone else so they do it through other means and a lot of composers do this through music. Every single piece of music that you listen to has a meaning behind it. Some people try to hard to figure out what the music is trying to say or mean. And sometimes it can ruin the piece of music by figuring out exactly what it means and destroy the purpose of music. Beethoven has been found to be the best composer of all time. No one can figure out what he is saying in his music. Still to this day it remains a mystery to what he was trying to get across in his music but that’s what makes him so great. If you put the right notes together you can do just about anything and if you’re good you can explain anything through your music.
