Bead Bar System Development Project Michael Smead Axia College The Bead Bar is a business that is experiencing a need for technological growth. The company allows it clients to produce custom bead jewelry at various locations. At the moment, there are three divisions of Bead Bar; they are the studios, franchises and Bead on Board. The president and owner of Bead Bar have requested an information system for Bead Bar to bring them to the digital age. The current paper-based system in place has become inefficient and is creating problems for the company such as lost orders, incorrect invoicing and fulfillment delays. By implementing a computer based information system, Bead Bar will be able to fulfill their need to expand to the digital age. As the current system in place is known to have fundamental limitations, it is important during the planning stage to determine what effects introducing a new system would cause. The major effects to be concerned with would the technical, operational and economical. The technical aspect of putting a new system in place will not cause a major disruption to the company. While taking the operational effects of the system into consideration, if the system is functioning correctly then the desired results will be achieved. The economical effects have multiple layers which include both technical and operational as well as having the responsibility of determining if the proposed system is cost-effective for the company. The next phase of development is system analysis. It begins with looking at the requirements of Bead Bar expectations. Once this has been determined, it can move to examining the existing system for areas of importance that need to be incorporated in the new system. By designing the new system around the existing system itcan be more readily understood by the people who will be using this new system.
